Bloomfield Facades

The city of Bloomfield, Iowa boasts an inviting downtown area brimming with a unique historic charm. In preparation for the application submission to the Community Development Block Grant Downtown Revitalization Grant in the fall of 2021, we undertook a survey and documentation of fourteen historic buildings in Bloomfield, IA.

Out of these initial fourteen buildings, four were successfully awarded the grant. We continued to collaborate with the selected property owners to outline a scope of work that adhered to the guidelines set by SHPO (State Historic Preservation Office), IEDA (Iowa Economic Development Authority), and met the specific requirements and expectations of each property owner for their respective projects.

Historic documentation served as the foundation for the design of each project, in conjunction with the NPS Secretary of the Interior's Standards, which guided the selection of the most suitable treatment within the constraints of each owner's budget and project preferences. Throughout the entire process, we maintained a close working relationship with the city, actively participating in the bidding process and holding regular meetings with property owners and contractors during construction. This dedicated effort culminated in the successful completion of the project in the spring of 2023.
