The Customer Chair

Based on a program brief requiring the use of CNC technology and efficiency of resources, this design resulted from an extensive study of the ideal seating position for a dining chair. Further, the design explores visually compelling form within the constraints of a flat bed CNC router and a 4’x4’ sheet of 3/4” plywood. Two unique forms emerged through the process, the softer edges and curves and the more angular form. Both chairs have the same basic structural concept which utilizes gravity and friction without the need for fasteners. The chair can be easily flat packed for shipping and assembled with a few taps of a mallet. Need a set for your dining room? Give us a call!
